Ayrton Senna with Rothmans Williams Renault. 2nd start. Imola 1994.

F1 Legends

San Marino Grand Prix's first race start. May 1, 1994. Pole Position for Ayrton Senna. Three straight pole position of the season. After the Barrichello crash in Friday's session and the death of Roland Ratzemberger at the meeting of Saturday, Senna took the track with the deep feeling that he was not master of his fate. Perhaps his faith in God, who gave him strength to be the best driver in history, also made him understand that it was not in their own hands the fatal outcome of that Grand Prix.

After the first race start, which ended with a crash between JJ Lehto and Pedro Lamy, drivers continued the race behind the Safety Car. Upon leaving the safety car, O Rei could not negotiate the Tamburello. Driver died and the Legend was born.
